This project "Like It or Unfriend It," by Teddy Wayne, MIke Sacks and Thomas Ng, from The New York Times, is hilarious, so I just had to post it. For anyone not on facebook yet, it might not make sense, but for those who are--brilliant. They've basically made up a facebook personal page for America.

For those who are on facebook [or have their doubts about facebook, twitter, 'smart' phones, robotic pets & lovers, and the like], I heartily recommend Sherry Turkle's book Alone Together -- Why we expect more from technology and less from each other. It's full of excerpts from real interviews & case studies, so it's not a quick read, but it has lots of insight into what's happening.
