This is not a politically-affiliated blog, but it is a blog that intends to inspire everyone to get involved in their political system, no matter what candidates they prefer. What's important is that everyone takes part and uses the power of their vote.
We have 2 days left to make sure as many people as possible cast their votes in this historic election. You'd be surprised how many of your friends and family don't know where to vote in Pennsylvania, a crucial battleground state.
No matter who you are voting for, take a minute to look up your polling place on this voting website, VoteForChange.com, then forward this email to your friends, family, and neighbors so they can look up theirs, too. This locator is provided by the Obama campaign, but anyone from any party can use it to find their polling location. I don't have one from the McCain campaign, but if anyone else does, I'm happy to post that too.
This race is too close for you -- or anyone you know -- not to vote.
And the issues we're facing are too important to keep anyone's voice out of the political process just because they didn't know where to vote.
Please email your friends, family members, or coworkers and tell them to look up their polling location too.
Polls are open in PA from 7am - 8pm on Tuesday, Nov. 4th and remember:
- Don't leave without voting. If you are in line before the polls close, you have a right to stay and vote, no matter how long it takes
- If you are a first-time voter, bring either a) photo ID (driver's license, emploee ID, Student ID, US passport, etc.) or b) non-photo ID such as a paycheck, utility bill, or bank statement that shows the address where you are registered.
- If you want to vote "straight-ticket," i.e., vote for all Democrats or all Republicans, REMEMBER THAT YOU MUST VOTE FOR PRESIDENT SEPARATELY. So vote "all" one party or the other, and THEN vote for president. If you just vote "All Republican" for instance, the machine will NOT register a vote for McCain, you must vote for him separately, in addition to your straight-ticket vote. (Same for the Democrats and Obama)
- You have the right to vote even if you have debts, unpaid bills, parking tickets, or overdue taxes.
- Don't wear political T-shirts, hats, pins etc. to the polls
And may the best man win!
