City Council & School Board Candidates Forum Tonight at 6:30!

I just found out that there will be a City Council and School Board candidates forum held tonight at the Third Street Alliance at 6:30 p.m., sponsored by the NAACP. This is the first public candidates forum for the City Council race, so now is our chance to meet the candidates, ask them questions and hear what they have to say. The Third Street Alliance is the beautiful old mansion located just north of Center Square, across from Quadrant. Below is the announcement from the NAACP:

The Political Action Committee of the NAACP Easton Branch invites you to participate in the NAACP Candidate’s Night to be held on Wednesday evening, April 29th, at the Third Street Alliance Gym from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The format for the evening will provide an opportunity for candidates for School Board and City Council to give a presentation of their platform and answer questions from the audience.
-----------

If you are able to make it tonight, please post your impressions here afterward to get the dialogue going about who is going to best represent the West Ward for the first time on City Council!

I was there. Our one candidate from the WW running for council left right after his opening remarks. He never even stayed for the questions from the public. His biggest point was that he now has his degree (remember when he ran for mayor and said he already graduated.) Anyway Fleck left and I thought Lieb did a nice job. Hopefully there will be another opportunity to see them. I am still on the fence.

Thanks for the comment. I can't believe Mike Fleck left before the Q&A. I agree--we need another forum soon, and in the WW, especially since we have two different races representing residents of the WW. I'm very glad that the NAACP hosted one, but it would have been great if the public had had more notice. I only found out the day of, and the Morning Call only found out because I told them. The Express Times says they ran an announcement a week ago, I must have missed it, and so did most WW residents. I heard there were not many WW neighbors there at all, when I know for a fact that many of our neighbors are very engaged in this particular election. This is sadly part of the continuing problem of the public not being sufficiently notified in advance of public meetings in Easton, but we will rectify this before the the election.
