Free Leadership Training for West Ward Residents!

A message from Laura Acetta of Weed & Seed:

WEED AND SEED LEADESHIP TRAINING PROGRAM

WHEN: May 5, 7, 12, 14 4:00 pm-9:00 pm
WHERE: YMCA and includes: all materials, dinner, childcare, and transportation (if needed)
WHO: Open to anyone interested in improving the quality of life in the West Ward area of Easton
TRAINER: Guillermo Lopez, NCBI (National Coalition Building Institute)

The Target Area that the Weed and Seed program is working to revitalize lies between 6th and 15th Streets (East to West) and the Lehigh to the Bushkill (North to South). Approximately 11,000 people live within these boundaries and have low to moderate income. If you are interested in improving your quality of life and the neighborhood in which you live, please join us for this FREE program.

GOALS:
1. Empowering and strengthening the capacity of community grassroots leadership so that they may participate in and lead local initiatives aimed at improving neighborhood safety and overall quality of life.
2. Supports the interests of community organizing and community development
3. Improve Leadership skills and knowledge of governmental, private sector, economic and community development systems.
4. Concentration on these areas: Team Building, Conflict Resolution, Diversity, Cultural Competence, Homeland Security.

ANTICIPATED IMPACT:
1. Participants will become more active in neighborhood quality of life activities such as: community policing, block-watches, youth activities, education programs, neighborhood revitalization and restoration.
2. Participants will better understand the value of collaboration and partnerships
3. Participants will take an active role in local issues in the Target Area and their school district.
4. Participants will use this training as a springboard for improving the quality of life in their own lives through employment or job promotion, higher education or general knowledge, and that working together opens the opportunity for change.
5. Participants will have hope for a better future.
