How To Know When An Important City Council Meeting is Coming Up

For those of you, who, like me, have been wondering how to know when a City Council meeting is coming up and whether it will cover issues important to our neighborhood, here is the reply I got back from Councilwoman Eleonor Warner:

"Council meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month, with conference meetings the second and fourth Tuesdays every month except June, July, and August, when the Tuesday meetings are cancelled. This is on the current website, but you have to look under Government, then City Council. This is also where the agendas are posted, usually the Thursday preceeding each meeting. We will have a new website live soon, hopefully with easier navigation, so you'll find the agendas easier. In the meantime, Council meetings are set by ordinance, so just remember that it's the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month at 6 PM. That never varies, or changes. Copies of the legislation are also available for public review at the City Clerk's office (next to Council Chambers) again beginning the Thursday before each meeting. I hope you can make some meetings soon - I wish we had a better turnout than we normally do."

So--2nd and 4th Wednesdays at 6pm it is. If we want to know what's going to happen at a meeting and whether it's important to go, we check the City web site (the link is listed on the right side of this page) under Government.

If we are going to make the political voice of this neighborhood heard, it is important that we start attending City Council meetings that affect our neighborhood in numbers, especially once Mike Fleck starts as our City Council representative. I will try to keep abreast of the agendas and post to the blog if I think a particular meeting is important for WW neighbors to attend, but please keep track yourselves as well, and let me know in case I miss something!
