HOPE for the West Ward

I returned from a long, overdue vacation with the wonderful news Dennis Lieb threw his hat in the ring again to run for city council. As I witness the mounting tensions and posturing over scarce resources and controversial polices, swelling taxes in the face of overtime abuses, the escalation of marginalized youth involved in drugs, gangs and related activities, I am struck by the lack of vision, planning and most of all—justice in our city.

These are just a few of the reasons why I am endorsing Dennis Lieb for West Ward representative on City Council. Rather than being cut from a familiar political mold, Lieb is a concerned neighbor who brings immeasurable institutional knowledge to the table. He is a forward thinker with a critical and objective eye who is unwilling to settle for mediocrity.

Rising above the status quo, Lieb understands the necessity of inviting residents and community leaders to be stakeholders in the process to shape Easton’s future rather than being regulated to voicing concerns from the sidelines. Lieb has publicly scrutinized policy creation and implementation, calling for thorough evaluation, researching and presenting progressive alternatives and demanding greater accountability to the public.

Lieb is an inclusive thinker who will strive to create a culture of broad community collaboration. Rather than looking in he looks out, having the humility to seek the wisdom and knowledge of others to get the job done without needing to take credit himself.

A man of strong personal and professional convictions, Lieb won’t shrink at the pressure of majority consensus. Lieb is a tenacious advocate of the people, a leader who has the courage to stand firm as a ‘David’ in the shadow of ‘Goliath.’

A vote for Dennis Lieb is a vote to empower residents, offer hope to our youth and bring justice to our community.

I agree with everything but the part about shrinking to the pressure of the majority consensus. Last i checked we were a Republic, a form of representative Democracy where we elect individuals to represent us! Not themselves. I will be writing in Dennis Lieb for all of the other reasons you stated. The only loss is that the Mayor just appointed him to the Planing Commission where he is doing a great job.
