Lafayette students are inviting Easton residents to dinner at their 2nd annual Pards to People dinner, which this year will be held at Mex-Tex Trio on Third Street. Below is a message from Lafayette Student, Alan Raisman, regarding the event--please RSVP if you are interested. Everyone pays for his/her own dinner, but they need to know how many residents will be coming because they will be assigning students with certain majors to sit next to residents

Hi everyone,
Last year, 27 Lafayette students and 25 Eastonians came together to enjoy a nice dinner in Downtown Easton in what became the first Pards to People Community Dinner. On March 27, we will be holding our second community dinner, and we hope it will be bigger than the first. Dinner will be at Mex-Tex Trio located near Third Street and Ferry Street at 6:00 PM on March 27. Please let us know if you are interested in joining us.
Pards to People was founded in October 2006 to create a neighbor-to-neighbor relationship between the students at Lafayette College and our neighbors off campus. Pards to People is a chapter of People to People International, a group started by President Eisenhower to create understanding among people and nations. This year, President Eisenhower's granddaughter, the current CEO of People to People International, will be joining us for dinner.
It should be a great evening, and we hope you can join us! If you are interested in attending the second Pards to People Community Dinner, please provide us with the names of those attending and your occupation or interests. We will use your occupation or interest to pair you with students with similar majors or interests.

I will be going to this--looking forward to it--I like the idea of Lafayette coming down off the hill and engaging in conversation with our residents. Per our earlier conversation on this blog as to whether or not Lafayette is a good neighbor, events like these are starting points to broader community engagement if we take the opportunity ourselves to engage the students.
I'm really looking forward to this event as well, and I'm sure it will be one of the highlights of my year at Lafayette. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to learn and share each other's perspectives while sharing a great meal!
so far 13 residents have RSVPed for this--it's going to be fun. don't forget to get in touch with Alan if you're interested in coming to the dinner, so that he can know how many people are coming and what they're interests are so that he can do the seating arrangements...
