Senator Mensch to Meet with Easton Residents re: The EASD Tax Hike and PSERS Reform

Meet the Senator this Thursday and ask about property tax relief!

Posted by: Noel Jones

In the ongoing saga of the Easton Area School District's proposed 11.85% tax hike, there is a bright spot--one of our elected officials, State Senator Bob Mensch, after posting to our blog, has offered to come to Easton to meet with concerned residents about PSERS (pensions) reform and relief for taxpayers with regard to this proposed hike.

This resident meeting with the senator will be held this Thursday, March 11th, at 6:30 sharp--the senator has 45 minutes to meet with us before another meeting that evening. The location for the meeting is below:

TranquiliTea House (upstairs)
106 North 4th Street
Easton, PA 18042-3504
(610) 250-0250

Please RSVP in a  comment so that I can give Ervie at TranquiliTea an estimate as to how many people we will have for the upstairs room--thanks!

this guy doesn't care about us. How convenient that he only has 45 minutes. He is a State Senator not the presdient of the USA. So make it another night.

Harrisburg gives and gives to teachers, cops and fire fighters. The question is how will he change that?

Two more people have let me know they are coming...

Anon 10:54--I don't know the senator, but would rather meet him myself and decide how I feel about him, then to operate on heresay. To his credit, he is the one state official involved enough to participate in a community blog and offer to meet with residents on a local school district tax issue (that is affected by state policy). Let's give credit where credit is due and take him up on his offer to make up our own minds when we meet him in person, ok?

It was a great meeting tonight--thanks to Sen. Mensch and School Board Member Jen Holzberger for reaching out to residents and taking the time to meet with us on this issue, and big thanks to Ervie at TranquiliTea for hosting what turned out to be a much bigger group than we anticipated!

I learned a lot tonight, and residents who made it are going to go into the next School Board meeting much more informed on the complexities of the issue--it was really inspiring to see everything there and speaking up!
