Start Your Own Business! Classes Start Tonight (Thurs) 6:30pm and Again in February 2011

Posted by: Noel Jones

In response to a comment I posted recently about the lack of encouragement locally for residents to start their own businesses (as opposed to looking for jobs), a reader emailed me contact information for the Community Action Development Corporation of Bethlehem (CADCB), who gives cheap classes to the public to teach residents how they can develop business plans, find insurance for their new business, understand the legalities involved and get their businesses off to a good start. I contacted them to ask if Easton residents can attend as well, because the web site defines the classes as being for residents of Bethlehem, and the answer was YES WE CAN.  Below is a message from Amanda Miller at CADCB, regarding a series of 18 classes that started last week, but they are still accepting new people TODAY. Classes start tonight at 6:30 on the Northampton Community College campus, and only cost $75, $65 of which is refunded to you if  you complete the course and your business plan.

If this notice is too short (which I'm sure it will be for most people) the next 18 week class will start in February. Below is the note from Amanda, as well as her contact information:
------------

"The Start Your Business class is offered to Easton residents and, although we prefer businesses to be opened in Bethlehem, it does not matter where your business is located.

If you would like to be enrolled in this semester, you will need to stop by our office today to fill out an application and attend the class which is scheduled for tonight at 6:30 p.m.  Our office location is 409 East 4th Street, Bethlehem, PA 18015.  If you are unable to fill out the application and attend the class today, you will be placed on our Spring semester list.  Spring semester begins the first Thursday evening of February 2011.

Thank you in advance for blogging about our organization’s services.  If you have additional questions or concerns, please send me an email or call our office at 610-807-9337."

Thank you,

Amanda Miller
