Sloppy Snow Makes for Phillipsburg Victory on Thanksgiving Day but Easton Progresses to PIAA Class AAAA Quarterfinals

Posted by: Noel Jones

So I went to my first ever Thanksgiving Day football game this year, and was amazed at how many people were there in the year's first snowstorm to support the teams--according to the Express-Times article by Tom Hinkel, the count was 14,500 fans. The snow made for a sloppy, cold game that resulted in a running game ending each play with a dramatic slip and slide. The game ran back and forth, scoreless across the field until it finally came down to a field goal by Phillipsburg, taking the game 3-0, ending their 4-year losing streak to Easton.

As you can see in the video below, Easton's cheerleaders, who have been the source of recent controversy, were clearly doing their best on the sidelines to stay warm and cheer the team on:

Easton went on to win the Class AAAA Districts 2-4-11 subregional final on Saturday, defeating Whitehall 13-10, and will now progress to meet La Salle College High School in the PIAA Class AAAA quarterfinals this coming Saturday.
