Mixed News on the Housing Market

Posted by: Noël Jones

The latest good news and bad news in real estate: According to Jana Herron's article for the Associated Press, housing sales are up in the West and Northeast of the country, but the recent uptick is largely due to foreclosure sales, which means that the houses are being sold at very low rates, bringing down the value of nearby properties.

The uncertaninty in the job market, has made people afraid to buy, even if the prices are down, they still dont want a mortage payment due if they know thier job may not last thru the year.Job security has developed into a luxury.many employess hire for a short term,so as not to pay benefits.I think 2011 will get better, but at a much slower pace, because people will be a little more careful with thier buying, whether it is a small purchase or a big one.......Tunsie

well, 2011 will be our chance to see whether or not the Republicans in congress were right, and that giving tax cuts to the wealthiest 1% of Americans and corporations will indeed create jobs, thereby leading to more job security, and more home purchases. it didn't seem to work during the bush years, being that the economy lost 700,000 jobs before Obama took office, but let's see what 2011 has in store and hope for the best!

I dont nessarily think the current problem is democratic or republican. The problem is AMERICAN.what a democrat and republican can do at a coffee shop right after they order thier coffees is to look around the shop for a child.than they should say to one another how can we change the world so that the child sitting there will have a better life when he is our age...we R not enemies we just have different political views.but the problem will not be resolved unless there is understanding on BOTH sides......I love U ....happy new year...tunsie

The city of Easton has the best real estate buys in the region. Things are getting much better and now is the time to buy -- low rates and low prices, a double win!

Hear hear--historic architecture in a walkable city with bus lines to New York and everywhere else. I wish I had some cash lying around so I could be up some of these beautiful buildings...
