Snow Causes Several Cancellations Today and Arctic Cold Front Comes to Town

The forecast calls for single-digit temperatures at night for the next four days.

Bundle up! It's going to get cold tonight and stay that way through Monday night, with temperatures forecast as low as six degrees. The snowstorm has caused several cancellations in our area:


Boys and Girls Club:

THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF EASTON TO CANCEL SOME ACTIVITIES TODAY DUE TO BAD WEATHER

Due to inclement weather the Boys & Girls Club of Easton has postponed its after-school programs at Cheston School includingthe cancellation of all B&GCE Citywide Youth Basketball League games for the Instructional, Biddy, Midgets and Teen divisional games. -- Dean Young, Club Executive Director said, “We’re putting the safety of our kids and their families first.”

In consideration of safety first, the trip that the club scheduled for this evening to see the New Jersey Nets take on theDetroit Piston Professional Basketball Team is canceled as well. Anyone who purchased a ticket to tonight’s game is eligible for a refund or can elected to credit their down payment for the club’s next trip to see the Philadelphia Sixers or the New Jersey Nets play.  – Young added

Because of the snow, other club after-school programs planned at the Easton Teen Center including Teen Night is canceled and will be rescheduled for Friday Night January 28, 2011 between 9pm and Midnight.

For now alternative programs will be held today at the Easton Teen Center, 1101 Northampton Street, between 1pm and 9pm.  Parents should call the Easton Teen before sending their children and check periodically to see if the snow leads to an earlier dismissal and suspension of programs.

Schools were closed and delayed again today, according to the Express-Times.


The Easton Area School District has cancelled its committee meetings tonight.
