Below is a message from Lafayette College regarding the Opening Day Kick-Off celebration in the West Ward this weekend:

Join us for an energetic kick-off of the Art of Urban Environments Festival and Chansonnette Fringe Fest on Saturday, May 7 at 12th and Northampton streets, the fringe fest’s site. New York City’s Asphalt Orchestra, described as part spectacle, part half-time show and part cutting-edge contemporary music concert, will get things started at 11 a.m.  A 12-member

carnival, members play music from Bjork, Charles Mingus, Frank Zappa and Swedish metal band Meshuggah, as well as new pieces written for the band by Yoko Ono and other musical luminaries.

The performance will be followed at 11:30 a.m. by remarks from Easton Mayor Sal Panto, Lafayette College President Daniel Weiss and Chansonnette Board member Evelyn Gulick. You’re not going to want to miss the fun!

Asphalt Orchestra also lights up the opening day of the Easton Farmers Market at historic Center Square at 9:30 am and a special 1:30 guest appearance on the Lafayette campus to open All College Day!

No one knows about the art festival. Where is the advertising? It's a little late isn't it? I've been downtown and haven't seen one poster. Same with the Fringe Fest.

Thanks for posting the link, Fia. I think Anon's point is that he/she has not seen any advertising in the form of print posters/flyers/ads in the paper and wonders why it hasn't been advertised.

I spoke to a someone at Lafayette who is handling the advertising, and everything will be up and visible by the end of this month. The particulars of the festival have changed a lot since the beginning of the process and so some final edits are being made and included.

This band was great! The energy in this city has just gotten a positive injection of adrenalin for the summer. Between the friday night riverfront free live band performances, and both the farmers market and fringe festival on saturdays, we've got a lot of fun weekends ahead!
