Three More Days to Register for Summer Camp with Boys and Girls Club of Easton

Friday is the last day of registration for the Boys and Girls Club of Easton's Future Stars Summer Camp, so sign your kids up now! Below is a message from director Dean Young:



SMARTER FUN IN THE SUMMER!
BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF EASTON’S ‘FUTURE STARS’ SUMMER CAMP
            (EastonPA. Friday, June 17, 2011)  The Boys & Girls Club of Easton is holding its final registration week for the 2011 ‘Future Stars’ Summer Camp the week of June 20th through June 24th.  During this week the Club will open Summer Camp activities and programs for all youth ages 5 to 14 years, including 1st Tee Golf, Free Swim, Poetry Snaps,  Park visits, Creative Arts, and various activities based on the Club’s 5 core program areas: 

Charter & Leadership  Development
            Education & Career Development
            Health & Life Skills
            The Arts
            Sports, Fitness & Recreation. 

Summer Camp will be held at The Easton Teen Center, 1101 Northampton Street, in Easton’s West Ward.  Camp starts on Monday, June 20th and runs though Friday, August 26th,  every weekday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.  A light breakfast is served at 9:00am, and lunch at 12 noon.  Registration forms for Summer Camp are available at the Teen Center.  Volunteers from the community are welcome.
            The highlight for the first week of Summer Camp will be on Thursday, June 23rd, at 3:00pm with a presentation from the Musical Mission Tour of Clay Church North: ‘There’s a Monster in My Closet.’ This show is open to all age-groups and pre-registration is encouraged.  More information on the Musical Mission Tour can be found at www.musicalmissiontour.com.   
            Special events, trips and activities are taking place throughout the summer, including a day at Saddle Valley Farm, and the College Tours program which target teens 8th grade and above.  The Club is planning visits to 10 colleges and further education institutions, and teens are invited to contact the Club with their wish list and recommendations for campus tours.  The Club also is inviting Admissions recruiters to hold college information sessions at The Easton Teen Center.
            July’s highlight, a joint presentation with Lafayette College, is a Dance Workshop with Illstyle, conducted by Brandon Albright.  This show takes place on Saturday, July 23rd, at11:00am, and, again, is open to all age-groups with pre-registration encouraged.  Illstyle is a multi-cultural Philadelphia-based dance company.  More information can be found at   http://pentacle.org/metro_illstyle.php.
            The finale for the Club’s 2011 Summer Camp is ‘Fantastic Friday’ the end of camp celebrations, which takes place on Friday, August 26th.  As in previous years, there will be plenty of fun activities, a cook-out, entertainment and awards.

don't forget Easton Area Community Center .... whichever is more convenient. They are both great organizations.

Yep--I'm covering them too--I posted about their new greenhouse for kids this summer at the community center.

School of Natural Learning also operates out of the community center sometimes...lots of good stuff to go around.

Summer camp is like a big break for kids and teens. They will get to relax but will not forget the values, this also one way to make them feel freedom and independence. I am not saying that this is a requirement, what I am saying is that this is really better than doing unproductive activities.
