Height of the Heat Wave Predicted for Friday
Posted by: Noël Jones
According to my iPhone, it's going to be 103 DEGREES on Friday. According to the NOAA weather report for our area, the high will be 100, with a heat index of 109 degrees. They have issued a severe heat warning. Please make sure that any senior citizens you know have access to air conditioning. Looks like we won't get relief until some thunderstorms roll in on Saturday afternoon, which will head us back down the thermometer to highs in the low 90s.
Everybody please stay out of the sun and heat as much as possible, and drink lots of water!

Please also turn off any electronics that you are not using and turn off any A/C units when you leave the house so as not to drain our power grid and cause a blackout--a huge portion of the nation is at risk of a blackout today...
I turned off the AC, but left the fan on for Cody, The World's Least Scary German Shepherd.
Lots of ice in his water dishes, too.

drawing all the curtains helps too...
it is now 109 DEGREES. this alaskan can't take it!
No power here on the Mt Bethel/Portland border since at least 6PM when I got home. Those lovable scamps at MetEd keep pushing out the restore time...now it's allegedly 3:30 AM...presumably before the month's end. Those wacky kidders! (for those keeping score, it's 89 degrees in my wide-open house at 11:51 PM)
Will there be a parade?
UT--so did power get restored? if so, at what time?
did anyone else out there lose power?
ugh--i can't imagine in this heat!
Parades don't require power, so have one!
Power was finally restored around noon on Saturday.
