Come Out and Welcome Our New Bike Patrol Officers!

Easton Police Chief Larry Palmer has invited us all to come out to a press conference scheduled for our new bike patrol officers this Friday at 4:30pm in Vandevere Park. This is early for some of the 9-5-ers who commute, but for those of us who can make it, lets show up and give them a big neighborhood welcome, since we've been asking for community policing for over a year now. This is a great bit of progress, and these officers all volunteered for the special training for this program. The are going to be ticketing people breaking double-parking and noise ordinances left and right, as well drug trafficking and other offenses, and I suspect they will quickly have a noticeable impact on the quality of life our neighborhood has to offer. They want to partner with residents and are asking for our cooperation in sending in tips--lets go to this press conference and meet them to let them know how happy we are that they have heard our requests and will be focusing on our neighborhood!

Here is the message from Chief Palmer:

"On Friday, May 15th at 4:30 PM in Vandevere Park we will have a Clean & Safe press conference announcing the bike patrols. Captain Vangelo has several bike and uniformed officers ready to go. He has worked tirelessly on this project funded by CDBG. I fully expect this program to have a positive effect as it is a no tolerance program. As Mike said, we will take over a block, running license plates on all cars and we will swoop the neighborhood."

Don't forget, the West Ward City Council Candidates Forum will be later that evening, at the Boys & Girls Teen Center at 7:45pm--if you can't get off early enough to meet the bike patrol officers, then we'll see you at the candidates forum to meet our candidates for West Ward rep on City Council : )

Progress, progress!
