Bring Trader Joe's to Easton!

Hey Everybody,

This is the most exciting news I've heard in a long time--Trader Joe's has started a Facebook campaign to see which cities want Trader Joe's to open there the most. Ken Kewley started the Bring Trader Joe's to Easton Facebook page, and immediately got so many hits that we made 113th on the national list of cities. THEN, last week we passed over 1000 posts, and we jumped to the Top 10!! Now, I am not a Facebook fan, but I made up a fake alias using my spam mail address just to be able to visit this page and vote, and I'm telling you--it's so exciting that I'm abusing exclamation points--we really could succeed in bringing them here! Finally--Easton with a quality food store in the city limits! Please go vote at the link below, and then forward it to everyone you know:

Where do you think would be the best location? Post your comments here!

For the record--I think the best location would be Downtown near the Circle, as it would be walking distance for the WW and Downtown, which is a big majority of Easton's population (the WW has 40%, and w/Downtown, it would be over 60%)plus, since most prospective home buyers see the Circle first (after the river) it would be a major attraction and create a very positive first impression.

OR..that stretch of Northampton Street just West of Centre Square could use a lift. Either way, this would be really, really exciting! With Nature's Way, the Farmer's Market, and the new tea shop, we could shop like actual city dwellers instead of having to drive to the 'burbs to load up on groceries. Thanks for posting this!!

Absolutely--the West side of Northampton would be great too!

Sounds like Trader Joe's has done its research - we have been in need of a reliable grocer for quite a while. I'd love to see viable commercial activity and an needed attraction near the 600 block of Northampton, but will be happy if they're anywhere within the boundaries of our city.

This is extremely exciting! I would agree the west side of Northampton Street would be a great location! I really hope this doesn't fall through the cracks like so many other initiatives that get started!

This initiative isn't started by Trader Joe's - it's a group of locals that want then to locate here. Sources in the industry (I work at a large grocery store) say that they will only be opening 12 stores this year and in PA they are only looking at another one in the Philly area and one in Pittsburgh. Solet's not count our chickemsns before they hatch only to be disappointed when it doesn't happen.

Nikkita,

As I understand it, the initiative IS from Trader Joe's, which why cities all across the nation are trying to get members to join to prove they would have the largest new customer base. In Easton, the added attraction is that it would be a customer base with zero competition, unlike other American cities. If we're already in the Top 10 of all American cities requesting, and the company is planning on opening 12 new stores, then the higher up we are on the list, more greater chance we have that Easton will be added to the PA list. There are some naysayers in the community who I can only assume are not excited because the idea was not theirs--keep spreading the word!
