Watershed Stream School, Sun. July 26th

Below is an invitation from Sophia at the WWNP, take part in a really cool program on the Bushkill. Residents and teens will learn how to monitor pollution in the water of Bushkill Creek, by observing insects on the creek that show various reactions to specific pollutions. This is a great educational event for free that will enhance a sense of neighborhood ownership and pride in our creek:

A great event in our neighborhood is coming up on Sunday July, 26 from 1 to 4 the first West Ward Watershed Stream School at the Bushkill Creek! Check it out!

Join us for Watershed Stream School and Find Out!

Come out to the Bushkill Creek with the West Ward Neighborhood Partnership and Delaware Riverkeeper Network and learn about techniques that citizens across the country use to help monitor and protect the health of their local streams and rivers.

Participants will learn how to monitor important water quality measures that help keep the local fish community healthy and diverse. We will learn how to conduct surveys to gain knowledge of how actions on the land affect stream health. Finally, we will learn how citizen monitors use the insects in the stream to determine how clean or polluted a stream is with basic macroinvertebrate monitoring training.

This hands-on training will be outdoors along the Bushkill Creek so dress to get wet! Please bring waders if you have them, otherwise field clothes (long pants) are recommended and shoes you do not mind getting wet.

Citizen vigilance is key to healthy streams so we hope to see you there!

This Session of the Watershed Stream School is limited to 10 youths at least 15yrs old and 20 adults so register early to save your spot.
