Eastonians for Haiti: Cafes Unite for Haiti Children

Posted by: Noel Jones

I've been impressed with the various ways that Easton residents have responded to help victims of the earthquake in Haiti over the past month. There was West Ward resident, Tim Pickel, who was working in Haiti before the earthquake ever happened, helping to build an orphanage there. Then there was West Ward resident, Patrick Poladian, turning his popular art salon into a benefit for the orphanage, which is supported by Lifechurch of Allentown. There was Courtney, the waiter at Porters, a West Ward resident-owned business, who volunteered her tips for an entire day--matched by Porters--as a donation to the Red Cross--that effort alone raised $1600.  And now there is a unified effort between our city's cafes and the YMCA to collect secondhand stuffed toys for children in Haiti.

Please review the guidelines and if you have any "gently-used" stuffed animals you can donate, please leave them in a drop box at one of the participating locations above.
