REVISED: Snow Emergency: Let it Snow!

Posted by: Noël Jones

CHECK HERE for FAA announcements of flight delays at airports nationwide.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas, but buckle your seat belts--or better yet--get off the roads altogether, get your shovels ready and break out the hot cocoa as Easton has declared a snow emergency. This storm is projected to continue through tomorrow morning leaving us with 6 - 10 inches of snow, according to Colin McEvoy in his article for the Express-Times. Stay home, get ready and let it snow!

My interpretation of snow storms is everybody going to the store to buy 5 gallons of milk and 5 loaves of bread, only for the snow to melt 2 or 3 days later.....I have noticed that the creative CHEF comes out of people.they become creative with thier meals, why do they have to wait for snow to do that?..I dont like watching the news, they tell us that it is snowing.....we know that by looking out the window..I like to relax over JAZZ.have a good meal.....some wine...brandy....I have a friend whom I love very very very much and she smokes.she wont be able to go 24 hours without cigs and she lives on a steep hill.I hope she doesnt risk her life for something that will shorten her life span...I love U el...Some people tend to over eat when there is a snowstorm because they think that it is ok to add a few extra pounds to help shovel the snow the next day...Crazy people call you and ask what you are doing.... I'm having a picnic in the back yard then I will swim a few laps.people want to know why I hide....I love Noel Jones.........tunsie

the good news is that Easton now does a good job on snow removal, unlike the burbs. I was out and about today and saw trucks in Easton but not in Palmer or Forks. Be careful on your way to work in the AM.

tunsie--I agree--you'd think people would learn to keep their pantries stocked on a regular basis so that they don't have to rush out and try to beat a snowstorm to get what they will need for a day or two...you've got the right idea, kicking back with a little jazz...

i'm am feeling snug and smug at home with everything i need already...i'm sure there are many others out there too that don't have to venture out to get essentials...i love days like this.

tomorrow the shoveling begins--which is actually fun exercise, if you ask me--fresh cold air, waving at neighbors who are doing the same...and then the hot cocoa afterwards!

but for now, i'm just going to enjoy a good night of uninterrupted sleep in the quiet that inevitably settles over the town in a storm like this...

who the heck is Tunsie and who cares who he likes? I hear he owns the blighted hotel in downtown and is nothing more than a slumlord.

Tunsie is the Jazz Maestro of Easton at the Lafayette Bar.

Anon 11:16--apparently we got lucky--it was headed straight for us and then the wind shifted and we only got the edge of the storm, which is fine by me--I spent an hour and a half shoveling today, and if we had gotten over 2 feet like in Philly and NYC, it would have taken a lot longer than that.

I remember that huge storm we had last winter--I ended up shoveling for an hour and a half and then off and on every half an hour or so for five more hours!

"the Jazz Maestro" i wouldn't eat or drink anything in that bar lert alone even walk in to the filth. I can't believe the downtown merchants that patronize the place and then complain about the blight in downtown and the circle bums. Where do they think they live?

Also, has anyone checked out this "business" he is making off of his tenants. As I understand it the gets their check and then gives them an allowance and feeds them in his place. He makes money on both ends. I understand it is a very lucrative business.

Anon 9:44--i have not been in the rest of the hotel, but the Lafayette Bar is a cool old vintage bar and a great jazz spot on first Saturdays, with cheap drinks and no food that i have ever seen. it's a very popular establishment.

as for how the room rentals are conducted at the Lafayette, i have no idea, but unless you have a link to an article to back that up, or are speaking from personal experience and knowledge and are confident enough to put your name on your comments, please refrain from spreading rumors about the businesses of others.

no food?????? that's a violation of the LCB license. All businesses that serve alcoholic beverages have to have food. Did that law change?

Noel honey....anonymous is obviously AFRAID of me...He is the leftover of this dirty woman that lived across from the colonial.she became known as the WHORE FROM ACROSS THE STREET.she and I were an item before she tried 30 times to better deal me.....she cannot believe I dont chase her anymore.but who knows what she has contracted after her escapades....I went after anon before my niece said uncle its not worth....Tunsie

Anon 11:38--really? I didn't know that liquor licenses require serving food--is that true? A bar can't just be a bar? It's a strange rule, if so.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I have been to the Lafayette bar many times, and never seen food served.

tunsie--first of all, you never know who is posting anonymously, unless they have dropped personal information that only that person would know, so it's best not to assume. secondly--this is not a forum for personal attacks, so please let's keep it clean and stick to making points on the topic.

by the way--this commentary has gotten way off-topic as the topic was the snowstorm, and now has the added link for delayed flights at our airports due to the storm.

does anyone have any good snow stories--were everyone's streets plowed in good time? i heard there were some car accidents--i hope no one was hurt. i also hope that flights coming in to the Allentown airport will be on time as i have to pick someone up there tonight and delayed flights do have a tendency to get backed up for days...

as for the neighborhood, it wasn't a bad day for shoveling--it took me about an hour and a half to clear and salt my sidewalks--good exercise...and it's been so bright and pretty ever since!
