Fringe Festival Planned for the West Ward May 7th - August 20th!

North 12th Street between Northampton and Spring Garden
Streets where the fringe festival will take place outdoors

More summer fun ahead! Chansonette Theater, with the help of City Council member Mike Fleck, is producing a fringe festival in the West Ward of Easton, on the block of North 12th Street just off of Northampton. It was originally planned to be
around the corner on Spring Garden Street, but local residents kicked up a fuss, so it was moved to a much better, less residential block on 12th Street (shown above).

Below is a message from Evie Gulick of Chansonette Theater, who has been producing community theater in our area for decades:

Dear Neighbors:

May 7, 2011 will celebrate the opening of a new and exciting event in the City of Easton that could bring hundreds, if not thousands, of people to our city.

Chansonnette Theatre, Inc. is sponsoring a Fringe Fest.  Lafayette College will open The Art of Urban Environments, a project supported and funded by the National Endowment for the Arts. It will feature works of art created by international artists of all disciplines to be displayed throughout the city.

In support of the Art of Urban Environments, Chansonnette will hold a Fringe Fest which will run for 16 Saturdays, 11:00am to 6:00pm, from May 7 to August 20. The city has given Chansonnette a Fest site on North 12th Street from Northampton to Spring Garden Streets. From the Fest site, Chansonnette is operating a trolley circuit that will take folks to each of the 16 art installations.

Chansonnette needs volunteers to help on all 16 Saturdays of the Fest.

Especially, help is needed for the “Kids Area” offering Kids music on stage during each

Saturday's Children's hour- 2:00 to 3:00 pm, and all day long each Saturday 2 live professional musical performances will be on the big stage including many varieties of music, yes, hip hop and rap too.             .

Relax under a tent and enjoy a variety of food and cold beverages.  Various art and craft exhibitors will display and sell each Saturday.  Much of the Fringe Fest is geared to adults, but children will like it too.

CHANSONNETTE NEEDS YOUR HELP to ensure the Fringe Fest is successful.
Volunteers are needed each Saturday in the following areas:
    On trolley runs
    Help on site selling beverages
Help on site manning Chansonnette's booth
Help on site with artists and crafters
Help on site with anything and everything

At the close of the Fest, all those who have worked to make the Fringe Fest a success will celebrate together at a special gathering.
