Ecycling: Mark Your Calendars for May 15th 9am - 2pm!

Wondering where to dump that old computer, TV, or cell phone?

Posted by: Noel Jones

Did you know that 70% of all toxic waste in landfills is electronic waste? I was shocked! Luckily, Diane Reynolds, our friendly neighborhood solid waste code officer and West Ward neighbor, has sent us the following notice to let us know when and where we can dump our old computers, TVs, cell phones and other electronics:

2010   E-cycling Event
Save the Date and Your Unwanted Electronics!
May 15th, 9:00am to 2:00pm

Once again this year the Two Rivers Council of Governments (TRCOG) and Northampton County will be hosting an e-cycling event on May 15, from 9:00am to 2:00pm, in the Easton

Area High School parking lot, located at Route 22 and 25th Street in Palmer.

By participating, you will be conserving natural resources and protecting the environment from significant amounts of heavy metals. Heavy metals found in electronic equipment are poisonous to human health and the environment.  If you have any questions about this event or e-cycling in general you can contact Tom Dittmar, Environmental Conservation Coordinator for Northampton County, at tdittmar@northamptoncounty.org or Cindy Oatis, Recycling Coordinator for the City of Easton at coatis@ptd.net

What can be E-cycled:

Computer monitors, hard drives, keyboards, printers, software, televisions, DVD players, VCR's, cell phones, pages, digital equipment, scanners, fax machines, modems, answering machines, remote controls, tape players, telephone/equipment, thermostats, thermometers, batteries (alkaline), stereos, fluorescent lamps and personal copiers.

What cannot be E-cycled:

Electric equipment such as: toasters, hair dryers, wall clocks or electric razors. Construction demolition, furniture, appliances, white goods, or household hazardous waste.
